ASK JOE

Question
Few questions: 1) Can you recommend any effective alternatives to NSAIDs for neck pain? 2) Anything you recommend for hyperacusis (sound sensitivity)? 3) Anything particularly effective in your experience for helping with fibromyalgia?
Hi Joe - are you familiar with the Zona Plus device used to lower blood pressure (isometric-therapy)? Does this device work and are there any less expensive alternatives?
Hi Joe - Last month I asked you about increasing my HRV and you mentioned to read up on the Vagus Nerve. I have the ICES device and saw that this could be used to stimulate the Vagus nerve. My question is where should I be targeting the ICES device to stimulate my Vagus nerve. I asked my doctor and he said on my neck underneath my left ear. The second part to my question is - I had a total thyroidectomy due to thyroid cancer. If this spot is the correct area to target should I be concerned about using the ICES device on my neck so close to where I had my surgery? I'm always concerned about stimulating anything so close to where I had cancer cells.
Hi Joe. What's the best supplement to increase the resilience of my brain? I get intense brain fog from all stressors: crappy foods, stress, too much exercise... I want my brain to be less sensitive to external inputs. Thanks for the advice!
Hi Joe, Hopefully you remember me from past questions, as it may help you answer this. I have written in this group previously about brain fog/depersonalisation type symptoms and you have mentioned limbic system dysfuntion as something to look at. I'm currently looking at "resetting" my nervous system with Alex Howard's RESET program, which I'm hoping will help. Lately for the past 3 ish months I've been experiencing a new weird symptom which is a kind of very slight buzzing sensation in my brain, it would seem more frontal left hand side... It's so subtle that it's hard to describe, it's not even really a buzz it's so subtle, but that's probably the best description I can give you. Also I have noticed that my brain fog/spacey/depersonalisation type issues are not quite as pronounced recently... What do you think of this? what should I research/look at to try and help? Do you think the recent buzzing issue is related to the previously worsed spaced out brain foggy issue, and they are interrelated thus one getting worse the other getting better? My Doctor who's pretty mainstream and clueless, but nonetheless good hearted and good for basic stuff, has said that it's probably tinnitus. But after researching this, it seems no one really knows what that is and what causes it anyway, so that's not at all helpful... Any ideas greatly appreciated. This is doing my head in, literally 🙂
Hi Joe! Do you have any specific recommendations for allergic rhinitis or tinnitus?
I have three questions regarding diet. 1). I've noted that you're on a low carb diet but still keep some soluble carbs like honey. What have you set as minimum carb intake for yourself? Are you following Paul Jaminets advice of getting at least 600 kcal of protein and carbs combined? 2). Since getting on a low carb diet, have you started doing better with saturated fats? What's your personal upper limit for saturated fat on a low carb diet? 3). On a lower fat diet, what would be the maximum amount of fructose that you would feel comfortable consuming per day?
I'm wondering whether Joe gets a butyrate effect from ghee and in that case at what dose and to what extent. Also I'd like to know what his general maximum recommended dose of honey per day is.
